"At any time throughout the day I could look around the room and see a smile on someone's face, a tear running down their cheek, and the wheels turning in their head. Every moment, you could look to your left and look to your right and know that you were sitting next to a fellow soldier, someone that will be, or is, in the trenches with you fighting in the name of justice. How powerful is that?"-- Sara P., a participant at Camp Courage

How powerful is Camp Courage?

"Magical and life-changing," according to one participant who came to Camp Courage Los Angeles in January. She joined over 200 other marriage equality activists to learn the community organizing skills that will be fundamental to repealing Proposition 8.

Astonishingly powerful, according to the quantitative evaluations of Camp Courage events in Los Angeles, Fresno, San Diego and Oakland. Participants of these four transformative training events rated them a combined 9.26 (on a scale of 1 to 10) -- the highest of any event the Courage Campaign has ever produced.

"I've been through many training sessions throughout my professional career. Don't see these "10's" as being skewed positively. Each and every "10" is my honest assessment of how amazing this training was compared to those throughout my life. Excellent! -- Christopher S.

And now, Camp Courage is coming to Sacramento on July 11-12.

Modeled on the "Camp Obama" training events that helped propel President Obama into the White House, Camp Courage uses the "Story of Self" to transform personal experiences -- each participant's unique inspiration for supporting marriage equality -- into compelling and authentic narratives that can persuade undecided voters.

We want you to come to Sacramento on July 11-12 for Camp Courage Sacramento. But first, we need you to sign up. Space is limited, so please click here to watch video highlights of the first Camp Courage and then RSVP before the event is full:

I am leading the organizing effort to hostCamp Courage Sacramento. (If you don't know what this is, seriously, click it.)

I need volunteers right away.

If you have any time available and want to put it towards a worthy cause, please comment, private message, or write me an email at TerryM@PlacerCC.org.

Camp is July 11th and 12th, and there's a lot of work that needs to be done. We're really looking for people who can help spread the word about Camp Courage effectively and get sign-ups. We've got tons of participants, a large venue, and some awesome speakers.

We want this so popular we will have to close admissions.

This is a GREAT oppourtunity to get out and do something with your dog(s) (if you have one) and other fellow companions while helping animals at the SSPCA shelter stay healthy and find loving homes. If you have any free time, come out and help for a great cause!:

I'm trying to start a worm compost bin in my apartment, and can only find red worms at one store on Broadway, and they charge $1.99 for 50 worms. I spent $17 tonight for only 500.

Ideally I would like 1,000-1,500 more worms to meet the size of my bin.

Does anybody in Sacramento have a vermicomposting bin and wouldn't mind sparing some extra red worms?

Much thanks!

Can anyone suggest some good dancing for the 18+ crowd?  I used to go to Club 21 on Wednesday and Sunday, but now I work M-F, and can't do that with my sleep schedule.  I'm thinking of going to Midtown Stomp for swing dancing, but I'd really just love a fun place to go dancing.  Any suggestions?

It may seem a little early to post this, but as this may affect your Thanksgiving plans:

Every Thanksgiving morning, the Rubicon Brewery and other sponsors put out a free buffet and free beer at Sacramento's Towe Auto Museum. Then, after a few hours, everybody heads out into the Capitol, riding bicycles all the way. By some estimates crowds push 400.

Think Critical Mass with more free beer. And free food.

Be sure to check out the Facebook event for more info.
